Goodbye Christmas! Seriously, Goodbye.

Merry Christmas!

Today is Christmas! How was your Christmas? My Christmas was relaxing. My boyfriend of some even years had to work like so many others who are drivers for mass transit. But I want to know how long did your Christmas last? My Christmas lasted for about 30 minutes. It took about an half an hour for my son, my boyfriend and I to open all our gifts. Yup, after all the gifts are open Christmas is over. Oh it's true. After all the clean up of wrapping paper, bows and open boxes are thrown away, Christmas is over.

After hours of shopping and wrapping the gifts and anticipating the joy and excitement on your loved ones faces, BAM its over. Just that quick. Then the aftermath of thoughts when you realize that you spent some nice cash for loved ones to get maybe the sweater you'll return tomorrow, the gift card at the store that you shop from or some odd color piece of clothing that you wear as pjamas or re-gift as a later present for someone's birthday.

Sure, sure, sure, it's the thought that counts but let's be honest, you're kicking yourself for being so nice. (BTW... my boyfriend hooked me up with 3rd row seats to a Janet Jackson concert, clothing from Victoria Secrets and a Exquiste tea set that I've been eyeing for the past year....standing ovation to him)
So to wrap this up, what was learned from Christmas: We know what to get that person who got us the "nice" gift, next year... a Visa gift card and after all the gifts are open, Christmas is over. See you next year Christmas. It was an awesome 30 minutes..... At least it last longer than........ ;)

Is Santa Real? When is the time to tell the truth?

I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus in front of the Christmas tree last night.

Mommy has some explaining to do. Why was she kissing Santa Claus the way she kisses daddy? Why was Santa holding her around her waist? Why was she giggling in between kisses? What was Santa whispering in mommy's ear? Oh yes! This is some of the questions that come into the minds of children when they see mom kissing Santa on Christmas Eve. In our adult minds, the parents are role playing. Scene one is the living room as "daddy" is dressed up as Santa leading to the final act into the bedroom... And I'll let your imaginations take off from there. But what about those kids who purposely stay awake at night to see Santa put their toys in front of the glowing Christmas tree and eat the cookies and drink the milk. My son is a teenager and I asked him the question I think every parent ask their kids, "When did you find out Santa Claus isn't real?" His answer was the usual answer that I hear often. "When I saw you putting my toys in the living room." And some kids find out the horror when they are talking with friends or even family, especially those who find it quite joyful to make the little kids cry.  I found out at my birthday party when I was 7 yrs. old. I had Santa Claus come and make all the kids smile but I knew something was off with that Santa. He looked just like my dad. I was in denial but then my cousins told me the truth. I was disappointed at first but quickly got over it.

So, when is it a good time to tell your child the truth about Santa Claus? Should we allow nature take its course or simply burst their bubble before they even get a chance to enjoy that magical feeling that kids get around Christmas. As we become more sensitive to the season, many kids are finding out younger and younger that there isn't a Santa Claus. Some parents don't like lying to their kids so they tell them the truth whenever their child ask "Is Santa Claus real?" Everyone has their own parenting style but why deny kids that feeling? This is the time when the kids will do whatever it is required of them so they can be on the Good List this year so they can get everything that they ask Santa for Christmas. The kids will wash the car, keep their room clean, wash the dishes for you, be on their best behavior. Some parents use that to keep their kids under control.

I honestly don't know when it's a good time to tell the kids about Santa Claus. I mean, I wouldn't have my child that's a pre-teen or a teenager walking around thinking that Santa Claus is real......That would be.....just......weird. Can you imagine all the taunts he or she will get from friends. But no matter how you look at it, its never a good time. They will ask you eventually if Santa is real. And what would you say? What if they ask you when they are 4 or 5 years old? Is that too young to be told the truth? Or should we keep the lie going? The parents sometimes get caught up in the fantasy and enjoy the excitement on their kids faces when they see or hear about Santa Claus. I've seen parents torn apart and nearly in tears when their kid find out that Santa Claus isn't real and is ready to fight and scream at the person who tells them that Santa isn't real. Well, all kids have to do today is Google Search: Is Santa Claus real? They'll come across numerous of articles and videos showing why he is real and why he is a fake.  https://www.bing.com/search?q=is+santa+claus+real&qs=AS&pq=is+s&sk=LS1AS1&sc=8-4&sp=3&cvid=2C358F9D8BBF481A88C03D14C357E18E&FORM=QBRE

Bottom line....eventually they will find out that Santa Claus isn't real. So if you're ever in the position to tell answer that gut wrenching question that always come up after Halloween....pending on the age, just tell the truth....He's not real.... And keep it moving.

Until then enjoy this nice cartoon: I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by JustoShow

Merry Christmas and All That Jazz

MERRY CHRISTMAS

It's been a while but I'm back!!!

It's been 2 years since I blogged. Well, I got caught up in the everyday life called work. After being unemployed, I was hired at a dream job and have been there every since then. But the passion of writing and sharing always burned deep down inside of me. Have you ever been so passionate about something that the feeling overwhelms you? We go through our day to day as robots. We wake up in the morning, take the dog out, well I have to, get ready for work and possibility get your kids ready for school, MAYBE eat breakfast, maybe you have to rush your kids to school, go to work, come home, MAYBE eat dinner after sitting down wondering if you actually took your lunch break, then it's off to bed to start it all over again the next day. There's that slight moment during our crazy day that we think about what we love to do. Sometimes we shrug it off because we know there isn't much time in the day to do anything or maybe we don't have the resources to begin to tap into our passion.

Passion....we've always heard that word but what exactly is it? I know it's a strong emotion. But to find ones passion, one must KNOW what their talents or gifts are. So during this hiatus while I was working, I scuffed out my loves and hates. I love to write and read, and watching those addicting reality shows. I find myself cuddled on the sofa writing away or reading a really good book or whenever a break arise I would write or when there is noting to do, I write and read. Sometimes I just sit and daydream about writing..... Writing books, short stories, poems, whatever. It's what I love to do.

Sometimes you have to start somewhere and I'm starting here....again blogging. Random posts but straight and directly to the point. So to begin lets get this one issue I've taken noticed that has been happening lately over the last couple of years..... SINCE WHEN IS IT POLITICALLY CORRECT TO NOT SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! Ever since I was a little child, I always said Merry Christmas. That was part of the greeting when you say hello or goodbye to someone MERRY CHRISTMAS! There was Santa Claus and the reindeers all over the stores windows. I remember going to a store and they had Santa Claus in his sleigh with the reindeers hanging from the ceilings as if they were flying. It was Christmas and you felt the magic in the air. The bells were ringing, carolers singing on street corners, even in school we walked through the halls singing CHRISTMAS carols and putting up Christmas trees and saying HO, HO, HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS....and let's not forget the awesome CHRISTMAS VACATION!!! It was wonderful! It's was fascinating! But suddenly people have become overly sensitive. Did you know that your child can't say MERRY CHRISTMAS in school? And one day I went to the store to get some gifts and before leaving I said MERRY CHRISTMAS! And the cashier got offended and told me that it isn't MERRY CHRISTMAS but Happy Holidays! WHAT!!! I just simply turned around and walked out the store.

Because everyone doesn't celebrate CHRISTMAS, we have to say Happy Holidays. Because there are other celebrations in December like Hanukkah Kwanzaa or Three Kings Day (shrug), Happy Holidays has to be said in replace of MERRY CHRISTMAS. Whenever I say MERRY CHRISTMAS to people it isn't being disrespectful. It's a cheerful greeting or departure. It isn't to offend anyone but tell you to have a Happy and Joyful CHRISTMAS. You don't have to celebrate the day to not be told MERRY CHRISTMAS. That's like saying, no one should tell you to have a good day. I think people need to stop being so sensitive. Some schools doesn't have a half day before CHRISTMAS EVE but a full day and very few schools even get out on CHRISTMAS EVE! I honestly think that's sad. And it all trickles down to overly sensitive people. Look at the reaction to the Starbucks red cups. Starbucks took the CHRISTMAS designs off their cups because people were complaining about it. Now they have the plain red cup. I honestly just don't care, it's a cup that holds that glorious liquid of Java. And CHRISTMAS VACATION is no longer called CHRISTMAS VACATION or CHRISTMAS BREAK, it's called Winter Break. ILL, that doesn't sound cheerful...unless you love the winter lol. But all of these changes are because it isn't politically correct to say certain things. Why get offended when CHRISTMAS has been celebrated since the mid 19th century. Hey, in 1843 Charles Dickens wrote the novel A CHRISTMAS Carol and many other CHRISTMAS stories followed. I'm a Christian and I celebrate Resurrection Sunday but I don't get offended when someone say Happy Easter! I smile and say "Happy Easter to you too!" Some people think I celebrate Kwanzaa because I'm black. I just laugh and say "no I celebrate CHRISTMAS, want to buy me a gift" to make them laugh too. But to each it's own, it'll always be CHRISTMAS to me and my family. So to you and your family, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!
