It's been a while but I'm back!!!
It's been 2 years since I blogged. Well, I got caught up in the everyday life called work. After being unemployed, I was hired at a dream job and have been there every since then. But the passion of writing and sharing always burned deep down inside of me. Have you ever been so passionate about something that the feeling overwhelms you? We go through our day to day as robots. We wake up in the morning, take the dog out, well I have to, get ready for work and possibility get your kids ready for school, MAYBE eat breakfast, maybe you have to rush your kids to school, go to work, come home, MAYBE eat dinner after sitting down wondering if you actually took your lunch break, then it's off to bed to start it all over again the next day. There's that slight moment during our crazy day that we think about what we love to do. Sometimes we shrug it off because we know there isn't much time in the day to do anything or maybe we don't have the resources to begin to tap into our passion.
Passion....we've always heard that word but what exactly is it? I know it's a strong emotion. But to find ones passion, one must KNOW what their talents or gifts are. So during this hiatus while I was working, I scuffed out my loves and hates. I love to write and read, and watching those addicting reality shows. I find myself cuddled on the sofa writing away or reading a really good book or whenever a break arise I would write or when there is noting to do, I write and read. Sometimes I just sit and daydream about writing..... Writing books, short stories, poems, whatever. It's what I love to do.
Sometimes you have to start somewhere and I'm starting here....again blogging. Random posts but straight and directly to the point. So to begin lets get this one issue I've taken noticed that has been happening lately over the last couple of years..... SINCE WHEN IS IT POLITICALLY CORRECT TO NOT SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! Ever since I was a little child, I always said Merry Christmas. That was part of the greeting when you say hello or goodbye to someone MERRY CHRISTMAS! There was Santa Claus and the reindeers all over the stores windows. I remember going to a store and they had Santa Claus in his sleigh with the reindeers hanging from the ceilings as if they were flying. It was Christmas and you felt the magic in the air. The bells were ringing, carolers singing on street corners, even in school we walked through the halls singing CHRISTMAS carols and putting up Christmas trees and saying HO, HO, HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS....and let's not forget the awesome CHRISTMAS VACATION!!! It was wonderful! It's was fascinating! But suddenly people have become overly sensitive. Did you know that your child can't say MERRY CHRISTMAS in school? And one day I went to the store to get some gifts and before leaving I said MERRY CHRISTMAS! And the cashier got offended and told me that it isn't MERRY CHRISTMAS but Happy Holidays! WHAT!!! I just simply turned around and walked out the store.
Because everyone doesn't celebrate CHRISTMAS, we have to say Happy Holidays. Because there are other celebrations in December like Hanukkah Kwanzaa or Three Kings Day (shrug), Happy Holidays has to be said in replace of MERRY CHRISTMAS. Whenever I say MERRY CHRISTMAS to people it isn't being disrespectful. It's a cheerful greeting or departure. It isn't to offend anyone but tell you to have a Happy and Joyful CHRISTMAS. You don't have to celebrate the day to not be told MERRY CHRISTMAS. That's like saying, no one should tell you to have a good day. I think people need to stop being so sensitive. Some schools doesn't have a half day before CHRISTMAS EVE but a full day and very few schools even get out on CHRISTMAS EVE! I honestly think that's sad. And it all trickles down to overly sensitive people. Look at the reaction to the Starbucks red cups. Starbucks took the CHRISTMAS designs off their cups because people were complaining about it. Now they have the plain red cup. I honestly just don't care, it's a cup that holds that glorious liquid of Java. And CHRISTMAS VACATION is no longer called CHRISTMAS VACATION or CHRISTMAS BREAK, it's called Winter Break. ILL, that doesn't sound cheerful...unless you love the winter lol. But all of these changes are because it isn't politically correct to say certain things. Why get offended when CHRISTMAS has been celebrated since the mid 19th century. Hey, in 1843 Charles Dickens wrote the novel A CHRISTMAS Carol and many other CHRISTMAS stories followed. I'm a Christian and I celebrate Resurrection Sunday but I don't get offended when someone say Happy Easter! I smile and say "Happy Easter to you too!" Some people think I celebrate Kwanzaa because I'm black. I just laugh and say "no I celebrate CHRISTMAS, want to buy me a gift" to make them laugh too. But to each it's own, it'll always be CHRISTMAS to me and my family. So to you and your family, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!
